Scott Verplank, a multiple winner on the PGA Tour and one of the best golfers to ever come out of Oklahoma State, is joining Sellout Crowd with the debut of The Scott Verplank Show on Tuesday.

Verplank joins our roster, which also includes former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, veteran sports writers Berry Tramel and Jenni Carlson and former OSU football All-American Sam Mayes.

“We couldn’t be happier to add Scott Verplank to the mix of stories we are sharing,” Sellout Crowd founder Mike Koehler said. “We continue to build on the success of our brand since we launched last Fall. Scott’s the latest great Oklahoma sports voice we are helping reach our audience.”

Verplank is starting with a bang. His first show on Tuesday features Viktor Hovland, currently ranked 4th in the World Golf Rankings.

Hovland won three events during the 2022-23 PGA season, including last year’s TOUR Championship.

Hovland and Verplank are among the best players to come through OSU’s tradition-rich golf program.

“I guess I fell in love with the dream that (OSU golf coach Mike) Holder was selling that we’re going to win, and we’re going to win a lot,” Verplank told Sellout Crowd’s Berry Tramel. “And I guess that fit to what I was looking for. You know, we had a great, great group of players already and I kind of wanted to play against the best players in college golf every single day. So it worked out that way.”

Verplank’s name has been back in the news as one of only a few amateurs to ever win a professional event. Earlier this month, Alabama’s Nick Dunlap won The American Express, the first amateur golfer to win since 1991. In 1985, Verplank won the Western Open as an amateur, the first player to do it in 29 years.

Verplank plans to chat each week with some of the top golfers in the world, starting with a few of his fellow Cowboys, including Rickie Fowler and Charles Howell III.
