Jim Littrell, the Sooner fullback who raised a Sooner fullback and OC
The Berry Tramel Show: OU has had two perfect seasons since 1956. A Littrell started at fullback on both, 1974 and 2000, and now Seth Littrell is the Sooner offensive coordinator. Jim Littrell talks about his son.
On the latest episode of The Berry Tramel Show, I’m joined by Jim Littrell, who came out of Muskogee and started at fullback on Sooner national title teams in the 1970s. Then Littrell raised a son in Muskogee who also became a national-title-winning fullback at OU and now is the Sooner offensive coordinator. Jim Littrell talks about Seth’s journey from his father’s footsteps to replacing Jeff Lebby.
Among the topics covered:
(2:48) How the Littrell family came full circle with Seth’s hiring
(8:30) How Jim Littrell became a Sooner
(17:27) Similarities between the fullbacking Littrells
(20:11) Why the Littrels don’t talk much about football: “I try not to look real stupid in front of my son.”
