Takeaways
- The Cowboys play at Colorado the day after Thanksgiving. The matchup with Deion Sanders will be OSU’s final regular season game. It’s on a Friday so expect primetime for Coach Prime. That could be a tough game if Colorado continues to upgrade and OSU needs a win in the finale to reach the Big 12 Championship Game like in 2023.
- Two of OSU’s hardest Big 12 games come in the first two weeks of conference play. The Cowboys open conference play hosting Utah (No. 13 on ESPN’s way-too-early 2024 rankings) and then travel to play Kansas State (No. 21). We’ll have a strong idea of how good OSU is before October.
- Every Big 12 team gets two byes and OSU’s come late in the season. The Cowboys are off Oct. 12 before a road trip to BYU and Nov. 16 before hosting Texas Tech.
- OSU is traveling 600 miles less this regular season than last regular season. After traveling 3,367 miles last season, OSU is slated for 2,709 miles of travel in 2024. The Cowboys have only one road trip of more than 1,000 miles this season (BYU).
